The Algorithm for Ordinary Differential Equations

When the system of equations are purely ODEs, it is necessary to have Gear’s method available for efficient integration of stiff problems. However, this algorithm alone is inefficient for non-stiff problems. Hence LSODA is used.

Experience has shown that users are surprised at first that no choice of algorithm is available. However, they soon accept that the selection algorithms work well and are relieved that they can concentrate on the modeling and engineering aspects of simulation.
