The Ports mode

An icon port is where the component will connect to other components or to a line. Simcenter Amesim ports come in different types and each has its own special style.

To add a port to your icon, select it from the list on the left, and drag it onto the icon. The port will automatically snap to the edge of the icon and you can drag it to any point on the edge:

You can use the alignment guide to position ports opposite one another:

Once a port is positioned on your icon, you can use the Properties pane to adjust it. Here, you can adjust the following properties:

  • Port position: edit the X and Y values to position your port precisely on the icon.

  • Port label: enter a string in the Value field to label your port, and use the Visibility checkbox to define whether or not that label is displayed on the port.

The Icon mode

In Icon mode, you design the graphical appearance of your icon. You can set the label's opacity, grayscale, text string and position:

Manipulating objects

When you place an object in the sketch (shapes, images...), you can manipulate resize and manipulate them through a double-click. When you do this, handles are displayed at the corners of the selected object:

Figure 346: Handles

When handles are displayed, each click on the object toggles between the two modes, rotate or scale . Dragging these handles allows you to resize or rotate and/or skew an object. If you press the Ctrl key while using the handles, the object's aspect ratio is maintained.

Importing an image

Click the button to select an image stored on your machine. When you import an SVG image to the sketch, you can select it and use the Ungroup icon to disassemble the image so that you can modify individual elements of it.

Note

The SVG import feature of the Icon Designer only supports Tiny svg 1.2. Please note that some elements specified in Tiny svg 1.2 cannot be directly created within the Icon Designer.
