CAD Import main window
The File menu
New: Select this option to create an empty project.
Open: Select this option to load a previously saved project (.amecad file).
Save: Select this option to save the current state of your progress in a .amecad file.
Save as: Select this option to save the current state of your progress in a new .amecad file.
Import > Part/Assembly: Use this option to import a 3D CAD model into your current project.
Import > PCF: Use this option to import a PCF file which contains a pipeline description. A 3D CAD model is generated from the components and materials defined in the PCF file. The primitive associations and connections are automatically created using the Fluid domain. You can perform some validations and modifications before generating a model in Simcenter Amesim. For more information about PCF, refer to PCF.
Import > PLMXML: Use this option to import a PLMXML file which contains the references of a 3D CAD model. Once the PLMXML file is imported, the 3D CAD model is loaded into CAD Import and you can work on it. When a PLMXML file also contains a mechanism description (from Simcenter 3D motion, NX Mechatronics Concept Designer, or NX Animation), the primitive associations and connections are automatically created according to the mechanism defintion in the PLMXML file using the 3D Mechanical domain. You can perform some validations and modifications before generating a model in Simcenter Amesim. For more information about PLMXML, refer to PLMXML Note You can also import a PLMXML file into the sketch generation assistant if you only want to generate the model without any verification or if the 3D CAD model files are missing..
Export > Part: Use this option to export one or more objects to a 3D CAD format. The objects you wish to export must be selected before using this option. The supported file formats are: .stp, .x_t, .x_b
Export > 1D Description file: Use this option to generate an XML file from the CAD Import project that can then be used to generate a sketch.
Quit: Select this option to close the CAD Import application.
More details about the available formats are provided in the Import and Export CAD data section.
