Overview of Linear Analysis features

Setting-up the model for system linearization

As presented in Before starting with Linear Analysis, you have to linearize a non-linear system around operating points to obtain an equivalent linear system and then use the Linear Analysis features. These operating points can be reached at any time during your simulation, so you can define when to perform the linearizations.

Figure 14: Linearization times

At each linearization time, the matrices A, B, C and D of the state space model are computed.

As explained in Status of a variable for the linearization, the state space matrices depend on the variables that form the vectors x, u and y. So you have to define:

  • the state variables which are included in the linearization and which define the vector x

  • the control variables which define the vector u

  • the observer variables which define the vector y
