Customizing units

You can either customize units for the active system (through the Active unit configuration tab), or globally for the Simcenter Amesim Run application (Default system tab). In both cases, you modify units in the Custom units of measurement list.

Note

If you want to modify units in the active system only, you can reduce the list by selecting the Show units used in the active system only Show units used in the active system only checkbox.

To modify a unit, select its domain in the Domain list. For example, to modify the display of units of mass, select the mass domain:

In the lower pane, all units of mass are displayed. You can now select some of them to modify their display:

Here, we select the unit kg. If you double-click in the Custom Unit list, the available custom units are displayed for this unit. For example, you might want to display kg in Mg. When you select Mg from the list, it appears in the Custom Unit list:

Note that a preview of the unit display appears at the bottom of the pane:

When a unit is customized, the Reset icon appears in the Reset column. Clicking this button removes the customization. If you have customized several units in a domain, you can either remove the customization for an individual unit in the lower list, or click in the Domain list to remove all customizations for that domain:

In the above example, the mass domain has been customized for both the kg and lb units. Clicking the reset button in the Domain list will remove both these customizations. Alternatively, you can click in the lower list to remove one or other of these custom units.

To easily view all the customized units for a domain, click on the Customize column:
