Introduction

Sketch animation Sketch animation is a post-processing feature which aims to help users interactively view and replay their simulation results directly in the Simcenter Amesim sketch. It relies on three main features to achieve this:

• line color animation which highlights the values of certain effort variables as colors, rendered directly on the lines in question,

• line symbol animation which displays the direction and magnitude of flux variables directly on their respective lines,

• component animation which illustrates the actuation and operation of functional components, such as pumps, valves, etc.

Sketch animation is available in Parameter and Simulation modes through the Simulate > Post processing > Sketch Animation menu, or through the Sketch Animation button:

There are no specific preparatory steps to take in order to take advantage of Sketch animation. You just need to make sure that the icons in your sketch are at their latest version. This is a transparent part of the Model Update process, where the update of icons (not only submodels) is now possible.

Sketch animation directly uses the contents of the simulation results file. In other words, captured frequencies, and performance and granularity of results display depend directly on print interval, and the results file. Sketch animation synchronizes with all post-processing tools (Plot, Dashboard, 3D animation, Statechart). Sketch animation automatically refreshes available results at the end of each new simulation run. Start the animation by pressing the Play button in the toolbar.
