CAD Import, Measurements
Measure mode allows you to create new measurements and to manipulate and view the existing measurements.
When measure mode is entered, the Measurements area becomes active.

Note
Certain operations are disabled when measure mode is active. These include: adding, deleting or moving objects from the Object tree; performing modeling operations. You have to exit measure mode to enable these operations.
The possible measurements together with their units are given in the following table.
| Measurement | Unit |
|---|---|
| Angle | degree |
| Area | m2 |
| Contour | m |
| Distance | m |
| Length | m |
| Mass | kg |
| Position | m |
| Radius | m |
| Volume | m3 |
Creating a new measurement
In the Measurements tab:
Procedure
Click the Create measurement button to open the measurement dialog.
Select the measurement type.
Figure 74: Select measurement type
- Select the entities (vertices, edges, faces or bodies) you want to measure or construct a measure on.
Note Depending on the measurement type, only certain entities can be selected. Additional entities like axes can become available for selecting.

- Click the Measure button.
The new measurement appears in the Measurements area. Figure 76: Measurement representation
Note The measurement can be named for a better identification. In such a case, this specific name is displayed in the Measure column.
Measurements tab
From the Measurements tab you can select different measurements, copy measurement values, edit or delete existing measurements.
Selecting a measurement will display:
the entities the measurement is based on,
a visual representation of the measurement.
You can copy one or more measurement values. To do that, select the measurements and use the right click menu.

Note
If you paste the measurement value into the Simcenter Amesim parameter view, the measurement unit will be automatically applied to the submodel parameter.
To edit an existing measurement, click on the sign.
To delete a measurement, click on the sign.
To delete all created measurements, click on the button.
Note
You cannot use the undo functionality to restore a measurement that was edited or deleted.
When you exit measure mode, existing measurements can no longer be selected. They are only available when measure mode is active.
