High Performance Computing (HPC) — Introduction
High Performance Computing (HPC) provides huge computational power to solve complex problems that are difficult to address on personal computers within a reasonable timeframe. Techniques used to speed up simulations include model partitioning (splitting a model into several parts) and parallel processing (distributed computing).
HPC can be seen as an extension of the Parallel Processing feature on a much larger scale, where the goal is still primarily to perform multiple case studies on a single model — even if more complex cases (e.g., involving co-simulation) can be envisaged.
