The layout of CAD Import

The CAD Import environment has four panes:

The Object tree

The Object tree area displays the structure of the scene. This area is very useful for viewing the tree structure of the objects and to possibly modify this hierarchy. The objects of the scene are organized within hierarchy. The first level of the hierarchy is the Scene itself.

The Scene

The Scene area is the area where you visualize the 3D representation of the objects. The properties of the Scene are available in the Object inspector when the Scene node is selected in the Object tree. You can modify these properties, for example the background color.

From the Scene area, you can also select an object and then configure its properties in the Object inspector.

Once you select an object from the Scene of the Object tree, you have access to several properties. The properties are:

• position

• rotation

• color

• geometry

• properties

Some properties can be modified by setting a value in the corresponding field.

The Measurements

All measurements you perform are added in this area. The type, the value, and the unit of the measurement are displayed. When a measure is selected, an annotation is created in the Scene area in order to show you what it corresponds to.
