Cases where the Sense internal variables feature cannot be used

For certain types of component or variable, using the Sense internal variables feature is not possible. In this case, when you select the Sense internal variables option, the window opens with an empty list and an Info message is displayed:

Figure 432: Situation where sensing internal variables is not supported

Below is the list of components that are not supported by the Sense internal variables feature:

  1. Supercomponents: you cannot sense variables for a supercomponent, but you can sense internal variables for a constituent of a supercomponent.

  2. Components without ports: you cannot sense internal variables for components without port, typically no-port icons (fluid properties, Python tools, plugins...).

  3. Components with a submodel that does not contain internal variables eligible for sensing.

  4. Components with one or several remote-type ports.

For certain types of variables, the Sense internal variables feature cannot be used:

  1. Variables that have a dynamic dimension.

  2. Energy, power and activity variables.

  3. Variables that can be hidden according to the value of a parameters (via the group size parameter, or a visibility expression).
