Display vector quantity with arrow

Arrows are useful for displaying amplitudes and directions of physical quantities, such as forces or flows.

Create an arrow

Procedure

  1. Click Arrow in the Physics section of the ribbon bar.

  2. Hover your cursor over the 3D area. A guide plane appears beneath your cursor, helping you select the cylinder's placement. Left-click to confirm the location.

  3. Move your mouse left or right from the center of the arrow's base to adjust its radius. Moving outward increases the size, while moving inward decreases it.

  4. Click to validate the arrow’s start radius.

  5. Move your mouse up or down to adjust the arrow's height.

  6. Click to validate the arrow's height.

  7. The arrow is created, you can refine the property values from the Object properties panel.

Properties

The arrow's radius and height (along the Z-axis) are its primary properties, measured in meters. The radius must be 0 or greater; entering negative values prevents the arrow from rendering. When you enter a negative height, the arrow direction is in the negative Z direction.

The arrow's frame origin defaults to the arrow's start point (the cylinder's base of the arrow). You can also set it to the end point (the cone's apex of the arrow).
