The Sense internal variables window in detail

The internal variables list contains four columns:

1. Sensed checkbox: activate this checkbox to sense a variable

2. Title: the title of the variable in the submodel

3. Unit: displays the variable's calculation unit as defined in the submodel. This can be different from the unit displayed in the Simcenter Amesim variables view if the user has customized his units.

4. Port: indicates the port number on which the variable is sensed.

When you select the Sensed checkbox(es) and click OK, the component or line is automatically updated on the sketch with the new port(s):

Note

Ports are always added in the last position. They are signal ports, and the variable that transits by them has a null unit.

You can now place the component back to its original location and connect its new signal port to another Simcenter Amesim component just as shown in the example below, where the torque controller model is made in Simulink. Communication between the Simcenter Amesim model and the Simulink controller is established through a co-simulation block:

The Simcenter Amesim model sends the rotary acceleration signal to the Simulink controller that generates the engine torque setpoint.

Note

It is not possible to change the submodel of an element that contains sensed variables. You must first remove the sensed variable(s).
