Importing and using an FMU
Describes the import of a third-party FMU into Simcenter Amesim, distinguished into two phases:
- Creation of the third-party FMU (outside Amesim).
- Use of the third-party FMU inside Simcenter Amesim.
Specifications of the import tool:
- It is used once per FMU. Once an FMU is imported, it becomes a Simcenter Amesim submodel that can be reused later without re-invoking the import tool.
- The tool maps FMI-related concepts (such as Scalar Variable) into equivalent concepts of Amesim's internal standard interface between a submodel and the simulation environment (numerical solver and runtime).
- Since an FMU usually stores the executable part of the model as a platform-dependent binary (a DLL on Windows or a shared object on Unix), the import submodel acts as a software wrapper around that binary.
