Comparing the body displacement with different suspensions

Procedure

  1. Set the following parameters for the completed system:

Submodel name and type

Main simulation parameters

Skyhook damper

damper01 [DAM0000] linear damper with 2 ports capable of linear motion

damper rating [N/(M/s)] = 2500

Gain representing main damper

gain [GA00]

value of gain = 1000

Gain representing the sky-hook damper

gain [GA00]

value of gain = 2500

step signal source [STEP0]

value after step [null] = 0.1 step time [s] = 1

Velocity sensor

linear velocity sensor [MECVS0B]

sign convention: positive from = port 3 to 1

Body mass

mass friction endstops [MECMAS21] 2 port mass capable of one-dimensional motion

mass [kg] = 400 inclination [degree] = -90

Suspension

linear spring with 2 ports capable of linear motion [SPR000A]

spring rate [N/m] = 15000

Wheel mass

mass friction endstops [MECMAS21] 2 port mass capable of one-dimensional motion

mass [kg] = 50 inclination [degree] = -90

Tire stiffness

linear spring with 2 ports capable of linear motion [SPR000A]

spring rate [N/m] = 200000

  1. Enable both Stabilizing mode and Dynamic mode.

  2. Run a simulation.

  3. Compare the car body displacement with the passive, ideal and active suspension (see figure below).
