Introduction

The Linear analysis tools enable the analysis of the structural properties of your dynamic systems with a frequency-domain view. It consists in linearizing the dynamic system around a specified operating point. The obtained linearized system is then easier to analyze, and the conclusions on its dynamic properties become clear with a very limited CPU-time compared to the time-domain analysis.

The tools available in Linear analysis are:

Eigenvalues
FRF - Modal analysis
Modal shapes
Root locus

The concepts behind the linear analysis tools are described hereafter. However, they are completely invisible to Simcenter Amesim users. The practical use of the Linear Analysis tools is actually simple and it gives very powerful and efficient analysis with very interesting results on the dynamic properties of the systems.

This manual introduces the use of the Linear Analysis in Simcenter Amesim.

  • Before starting with Linear Analysis gives a set of explanations and global overview to understand how it works and why Linear Analysis tools are powerful.

  • Overview of Linear Analysis features is a reference guide on the use of the Linear Analysis facilities.

  • Linear Analysis examples contains tutorials to get you started in the use of linear analysis, eigenvalue analysis, frequency response analysis and modal analysis.
