The Simcenter Amesim Workspace > The Libraries
Favorites
You probably have certain components and libraries you use regularly when building your systems. You can use the Favorites folder to provide quick access to them, so that you do not have to search through the different libraries to locate them each time they are needed.
You can easily create a selection of your favorite components and organize them into your own categories. To create a new Favorites category, right-click in the Library tree, and select New.
A new category folder appears in the Library tree.
You can rename this folder as you require. You can leave this folder where it was created (at the root of the Library tree), or drag it into the Favorites folder. Now you can drag components from their source libraries and drop them into the newly-created Favorites sub-folder(s):
You can drag components from many different libraries to a Favorites folder:
In the above screenshot, the Miscellaneous folder contains components from the Mechanical, Simulation and the Signal, Control libraries.
You can also create other folders in the Library tree, either as sub-folders of existing favorites folders, or at the root of the Library Tree. If you right-click and select New within a library favorites sub-folder, the new folder will be created within that sub-folder. If you right-click on any of the root folders (Favorites, Simulation, Mechanical, or Signal, Control in the above screenshot), a new folder is created at the root level:
This new folder can be used in the same way as the Favorites folder.
Copy, Paste and Delete
You can copy and paste components or folders within your Favorites folder(s), or to the root of the Library tree through a right-click.
You can delete any folder or component through a right-click.
Explore
As with other libraries, you can right-click your Favorites folder(s) and select Explore from the contextual menu to open the folder(s) in a new window that can then be docked elsewhere in the interface.
Exporting and importing your favorites
Once you have set up your favorites as you require, you can export them and save them locally, to import later, or to import on another machine. You can either export the entire Favorites folder, or any of its sub-folders. To do this, right-click on the folder you want to export and select Export from the contextual menu:
A file browser opens, allowing you to select a destination folder in which to save your export, and from which you can import your favorites later on as required.
If, when you import your favorites, any of the corresponding libraries are not present in the Category Path List, you get a warning message, and the components that cannot be imported are listed in the Log Window:
In this example, the Mechanical library is not available, so its components cannot be imported. Once the Mechanical library is restored to the path list, the favorites are updated and the Mechanical components become available.
Deleting sub-folders and components
You can delete a Favorites sub-folder or component through a right-click:
If you delete a sub-folder, you will of course also delete all of its contents.
