Import data as XYs table and interpolate it
In this example, the SIGHULL0 submodel (ND interpolation of scattered data) from the Signal, Control Library is considered. This submodel will be supplied with imported data stored in a Simcenter Amesim XY table by the Data Import.
Suppose you want to mimic the behavior of a physical system having 2 inputs and 3 outputs, based on the measurements contained in the Excel® file shown in the following figure. In this example, we consider kinematic measurements of a front car suspension system (MacPherson strut).

The two inputs considered here are the wheel vertical motion and the rack motion. All other columns from the Excel® file, except the time column, are the desired outputs of the surrogate submodel that will be created in Simcenter Amesim, namely the toe, the camber and the self-rotating angles.
Procedure
- Select the right numbers of inputs and outputs for SIGHULL0 while placing it on the sketch. In this example, two inputs and three outputs are considered. Connect a multiplexer to its inputs and a demultiplexer to its outputs. Set the appropriate sources and signal sinks, as shown below:

You now need to generate the XY table corresponding to the data contained in your Excel® file by using the Data Import.
Start the Data Import directly from Simcenter Amesim as shown in the Figure 4 figure.
Browse your input files and select the above Excel® file.
Define your Titles row and your Units row:

- Select the 5 columns you need from your Excel® file (do not include the Time column in your data selection):

- Select Export table if no post-processing is needed, then close the Data Import.

- Use your newly imported table for the SIGHULL0 submodel while also setting the right column names:

Results
The following figure shows a comparison between the results of the interpolating surrogate model and the initial measurements that were imported from the Excel® file. By changing the inputs (wheel vertical motion and rack motion), you now dispose of a model that mimics the behavior of the physical system.
