The term "algebraic loop" denotes a type of model topology in which, at a given time, evaluation of certain elements of the model is impossible due to the direction of the information exchanged at ports. Algebraic loops occur in many Simcenter Amesim systems and are created from the combination of the model topology (how submodels are connected together) and submodel I/O tables (how variables are declared on ports at submodel level). This specific combination might create a direct feed through effect, i.e. the fact that some outputs need corresponding component inputs to be first defined, themselves based on the value of the desired output. The loop composed by all the lines and components involved in this direct feed-through is called an algebraic loop.
