Removing components

removing components

There are two types of component icon:

  • Standard Simcenter Amesim component icons.

  • User-component icons. These are the ones you create yourself.

You can only remove user-component icons, as well as their associated submodels and supercomponents.

Procedure

  1. In the Library tree, right-click the component icon you want to remove and select Remove.

The Remove dialog box appears.

  1. Select the component or submodel(s) to remove from the list.

If you select a component, all its associated submodels will be removed as well.

  1. Click the Remove button.

A confirmation window opens.

  1. The remove action cannot be reverted. You can click the Details button to get more information on how the different component or submodel files will be affected.

If there are customized submodels which are based on a generic user submodel, these are always removed if the base submodel is removed. This is the case for ENGTHMDISC04 in the example above: deleting ENGTHMDISC04 will automatically delete all the customized submodels which are based on it, as they depend on it for some of their fundamental properties and files. This parent-child relationship only exists for customized submodels whose parent submodel is a generic submodel. This rule does not apply to customized supercomponents based on generic supercomponents (see EHGTHMDISC03_C1, which is based on ENGTHMDISC03 in the example above).

  1. Click Confirm.

The component or submodel is deleted and the parent category of the component is updated accordingly.

Note

If you remove a component icon, the icon is destroyed and you can not use it for another component. If you want to keep the icon, you must save it to a file.
