Recompilation force model recompilation

When you change from Sketch, Submodel or Parameter mode into Simulation mode, Simcenter Amesim sometimes compiles and links code to create a new executable and sometimes it does not. The decision is made on the basis of two criteria:

1. If no executable exists, the compilation and link must take place.

2. If an executable does exist, the compilation and link is done only if it is strictly necessary. It is strictly necessary if there has been a change to the system which makes the executable out-of-date.

The Force model recompilation facility enables you to over-rule Simcenter Amesim and force the creation of a new executable next time you enter Simulation mode with this system.

The majority of Simcenter Amesim users never need use Force model recompilation. However, more advanced users who create their own submodels will find it extremely useful.

Recompilation in Simulation mode

If a model contains a submodel with a parameter whose Recompile on value change flag is true, the model will be recompiled when switching from Parameter to Simulation mode each time the value of this parameter is modified.

A parameter whose Recompile on value change flag is set to true is indicated by an icon . This icon is displayed as follows:

• In the Change Parameters dialog box:

Limitations

This kind of parameter has certain specific limitations:

• It cannot be used in Batch Runs:

• It cannot be used in the Export Setup:

• You cannot assign global parameters to this kind of parameter.

• You cannot assign expressions to a parameter whose Recompile on value change flag is set to true, only numerical values are accepted. For example, you cannot enter 8+4, you must enter 12.

• You cannot modify this kind of parameter in Simulation mode from the Watch or Parameters pane:
