The App space

The App space view contains a list of apps that can be attached to a model at the system level, and a list of shortcuts to launch applications or scripts.

These are listed in two types of categories: the user’s own apps and application shortcuts are listed in the MY APPS category, while the ones provided by Simcenter Amesim are listed in the categories below.

The App space view also lists the apps currently attached to the model in its MODEL APPS category.

Any user or Simcenter Amesim provided app or application shortcut can be marked as a favorite and its bookmark will be added to the FAVORITES category below the model apps listing.

All listed items are represented by tiles with icons and names.

App space tiles allow you to add a description, which is visible when hovering the mouse cursor over them. Only descriptions in the MODEL APPS and MY APPS tiles can be modified.

The App space view makes it easy to perform operations on apps and shortcuts. Hovering over a tile will reveal a small bubble in the top-right corner that can be clicked to display a menu with a list of available operations. The list of operations is context sensitive, only operations that can be performed on a given item are listed.

Apps can be added to a model either by clicking the New tile, or by importing the apps directly into the model using the Import option of the New tile's contextual menu.

Apps can also be added to a model by clicking on the app tiles in the MY APPS or Simcenter Amesim categories.

Note

When you add apps to a model by clicking on the tiles in the MY APPS category or the Simcenter Amesim categories, the App space tracks changes to the app file behind the source tiles. If edits are made to the app file of a source tile after the app was attached to a model, the App space will be aware such edits have been made. A small link icon in the top left-hand corner of an app tile indicates that the App space is tracking changes to the source tile app file. This is explained further in the Model apps category section.
