The Edit menu > Insert

Text actions

At least one text object should be selected. A submenu is produced giving four options. However the Edit option is available only if the pointer is over a single text object. You cannot edit several text strings simultaneously!

Edit

If you click on the Edit item, the text changes into a form where it can be edited.

You can also edit text just by clicking on a text object.

  • If you double-click on a text object (quickly) the mouse "picks up" the object so you can move it around the sketch.

  • If you click once on a text object to select it (so that the black handles appear at the corners) the text becomes editable.

When a text object is in edit mode, you can use the mouse and keyboard to make standard edits. For example you can select portions of the text and use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to copy and paste that text (either within the current text object, or as a new text object in the main sketch), use Ctrl+X or the delete key to cut or delete the portion, and use the Home and End keys to jump to the start or the end of a text block. You can also use the keyboard arrow keys to move the cursor within a text object.

Font

This produces a Select Font dialog box. Changes you make will be applied to all the selected text objects.

Color

This produces a Set Color dialog box. Any changes you make will be applied to all the selected text objects. You can select individual words to modify their color.

Alignment

This gives you access to the following submenu.

Any changes you make will be applied to all the selected text objects. The operation is only useful if you have at least two lines of text. Examples of the 3 options are shown below.

Positioning

Unlike with previous versions of Simcenter Amesim, as of Rev 11 text objects can overlap with other objects, so you can position them precisely where you require them:

Set attributes as default

This applies when an annotation object or text is selected. Any new object added subsequently to the sketch will have the attributes set as default.
