Parameter study

Unidirectional

This is the simplest method of DOE. You set as many levels as you want for each parameter. The first run performed by Simcenter Amesim will use the first level for each parameter: this is the nominal parameter set. Then Simcenter Amesim will perform runs in which only one parameter value is different from the nominal parameter set. As many runs as necessary will be performed in order to test each parameter level.

No specific post-treatments are associated with this technique.

Full combinations

This method performs a run for each combination of parameter levels.

User sets

This facility allows you to define all the parameter sets (working points) for which you want to perform a run.

As an example, we will consider a DOE with two parameters: a and b. The levels are (a0, a1, a2) for a, and (b0, b1) for b. The following runs will be performed according to the type of technique selected:

Unidirectional
b0 b1
a0 x x
a1 x
a2 x
Full combination
b0 b1
a0 x x
a1 x x
a2 x x
User-sets
b0 b1
a0 x
a1 x
a2

Figure 43: DE definition with User sets option

In order to illustrate this option, let us consider the following example:

Figure 44: Controls setting

With the Unidirectional option, the runs below are performed:

  • Run 1: controlDuration = 0,009 railPressure = 900

  • Run 2: controlDuration = 0,011 railPressure = 900

  • Run 3: controlDuration = 0,012 railPressure = 900

  • Run 4: controlDuration = 0,009 railPressure = 1100

With the Full combinations option, we get:

  • Run 1: controlDuration = 0,009 railPressure = 900

  • Run 2: controlDuration = 0,009 railPressure = 1100

  • Run 3: controlDuration = 0,011 railPressure = 900

  • Run 4: controlDuration = 0,011 railPressure = 1100

  • Run 5: controlDuration = 0,012 railPressure = 900

  • Run 6: controlDuration = 0,012 railPressure = 1100

With the User sets option the performed run will give:

  • Run 1: controlDuration = 0,009 railPressure = 900

  • Run 2: controlDuration = 0,0011 railPressure = 1100
