Continuous state variables related to FMI for Model Exchange

According to the FMI for Model Exchange 1.0 specification, continuous state variables are anonymous, in the sense that they are not explicitly declared among the scalar variables of the FMU. They are however necessary for simulation. This is why, when importing an FMU for Model Exchange, a variable group called “Continuous state variables” is created to hold these variables. This group is visible in the variable list of the import submodel and contains a list of variables called “x0”, “x1”, and so on (see the figure below).

Note

Continuous state variables are automatically initialized by the FMU, and thus there is no initial condition associated with those variables in the parameter list of the import submodel.
