Overview

Here is a plot and the corresponding Plot manager containing two graphs.

The first graph contains two curves and the second graph only one. If you want more information about the curves, you can expand them in the Plot manager.

Curve 1 is composed of two data items: the x item is the time and the y items are the Body displacement and the Body velocity. The Y item of the Displacement Difference is a compound variable created in the Post processing tab:

Here we have created a Displacement Difference variable with the expression: (x1@AS_CarBody:ActiveSuspension)-(x1@AS_Tire:ActiveSuspension)

where x1@AS_Tire (the AS Tire compression variable) is subtracted from x1@AS_CarBody (the AS Body displacement variable). The paths for these variables are obtained through a right-click on the variable concerned:

You can manipulate items and curves. This means you can create an XY plot, plotting a variable not against time, but against another variable. For example, we will transform the Displacement Difference so that it is plotted against Body displacement. To do this, we simply drag Body displacement onto the Time item of Displacement difference:

The Plot Manager automatically switches the two items:

Now Curve 2 is unneeded, so you can remove it.

When you click OK, the new plot appears with the curves reordered:

If you want to keep a curve in its original format even if you drag and drop it onto another curve, you can hold down the Ctrl key while you perform the operation. This will copy the curve instead of switching it with the destination curve:
