The CAD Import model generation environment in detail > Primitive association

Simple primitive

To associate a primitive with a single CAD body:

Procedure

  1. Select a domain.

Note If several instances of a domain are defined in the project, each instance is available in the choice list. More details on domain instances are provided in the Domains section.

  1. Select a primitive type.

CAD faces or edges describing the primitive ports are automatically retrieved but you can select them manually with the button. Note Selected which CAD entities can be cleared using the button and which can be restored using the button.

Primitive parameters can be:

automatically extracted from the CAD part through expressions,

set to a default constant value,

not set.

In any cases, a parameter value can be:

measured manually from the CAD body using the button,

edited in the expression interpreter.

Note Default parameter values can be restored using the button.

  1. Enter a comment if needed.

Results

Once the dialog is validated the primitive appears in the Object tree. The CAD part is colored based on the primitive type.

Note

The primitive type can appear in red in the object tree if a primitive port or a parameter is not set.

A primitive can be removed from a CAD part using the button.

You can undo the primitive association creation, edition or deletion.

Dynamic number of ports

Most primitives have a fixed number of ports. Nevertheless it is convenient for some applications to be able to set a number of ports that varies according to the CAD body and the primitive. The icon indicates that the number of ports can be modified.

  • If all ports are of the same type, double-click the value to edit it.Figure 146: Ports number edition

  • If ports are of different types, click the button.A dialog window opens to edit the numbers of each type of ports.Figure 147: Ports number edition window
