To set a parameter for a batch run, proceed as follows:

Procedure

1. Select Configure > Study parameters, press Ctrl+B or use the Study parameters button from the Parameter contextual toolbar.

The Study Manager opens.

2. Select the component of the model which contains the parameter you are interested in to open the contextual Parameters window, or double-click it to open the Change Parameters dialog box.

3. Drag and drop this parameter:

into the Input parameters list of the Parameters tab, or,

directly into the parameters list from the Studies tab.

You can also select a global parameter, the description of which is given in the Global parameters section. You can add several parameters if necessary, but we will add only one in this example.

4. Go to the Studies tab.

5. If it's not already the case, select the parameter in the parameters list.

6. In Definitions, select the setup method from the drop-down list:

Varying between 2 limits: with this option selected, you must set a base value, a step size and a number of values below and above the base value, as shown in the figure below.

The resulting minimum and maximum values are given as well as the number of simulations.

User-defined data sets: with this option selected, you must click the Add button each time you want to assign a new value to the parameter.

The selected set is duplicated to create a new one. For example, in the figure below Set 2 is selected and duplicated to create a new Set 5.

You can also remove a set by selecting it from the Set to remove drop-down list and clicking the Remove button.

7. Assign values to the parameter.To enter a value, double-click in the Value and Step size fields (in the case of varying between 2 limits) or the individual set value fields (in the case of user defined data sets). You can then directly enter a numerical value, or start typing a text string. In the latter case, the auto completion function proposes a list of corresponding functions. You can use the mouse or the keyboard arrow keys to select the function you require.

8. To add another parameter, drag and drop it to the list, as explained in step 3.

If you have several parameters in your list, you can choose whether to use them through their checkboxes in the Studies tab.

You can select the Hide unused option to hide the parameters you choose not to use.

9. When you have completed the configuration, click on OK to validate your setup.

Copy data from Excel

When using the User defined data sets setup method, you can copy and paste data from a .xls or .csv file. To do so:

Procedure

1. In the Studies tab, select the parameters you want to use through their checkboxes. If you choose not to use some of them, make sure to hide them using the Hide unused option.

2. Select and copy the desired data from your .xls or .csv file. It can be one or several lines, depending on your number of parameters.

3. Go back to the Study Manager, right-click the first set value field and select Paste.

Results

Set value fields are added if necessary, and they are automatically populated with the data from Excel.

Note

Pay attention to where you place your cursor when pasting your data in the Study Manager. The data will be pasted from the cursor position. For example if you already have some sets and paste on Set 3, the new sets will be created from this point and the existing sets 1 and 2 will be conserved.
