How do you handle a token-based system?

Answer

If you use products that are licensed against Simcenter Amesim tokens, you can check the Token value column to see the value for each library. The total number of available tokens, the number of already-used tokens, and the number of currently-selected tokens are displayed at the bottom of the Current path list window.

Each of your libraries is defined by a weight expressed in a given number of points. For example, Hydraulic = 27 points, Powertrain = 54 points...

You can use the category path list to optimize the number of libraries used in a given Simcenter Amesim session.

By selecting or de-selecting libraries in the Current path list pane, you can see exactly how many points you are currently using:

In the above example, three numbers are displayed:

• 850: the number of points corresponding to the libraries currently selected in the Current path list pane.

• 50 (in parentheses): the number of points corresponding to the libraries currently checked out when the path list was opened (before any change).

• 300: the maximum number of points allowed for all users, according to what is defined in the license file.

In the above example, it is clear that the user has selected too many libraries (for a total amount of 850 points) and that he has exceeded the total amount purchased (300 points).

If you validate your category path list with a number of selected points that is greater than the maximum number of points allowed, an error message similar to the one below will be displayed:

If such a message is displayed, the solution is to reduce the number of libraries used by un-ticking the appropriate check-boxes in the category path list until the number of selected points no longer exceeds the maximum number of points allowed:

Note that if several users use the same license server, the total amount of tokens is shared among all the users. You can also start the license viewer from the Tools menu to know who is currently consuming tokens (whose license name is ame_token).
