Introduction
Before starting with the Generic Co-simulation
No product in the world can do all things and answer very well all needs. This is why Simcenter Amesim is open to other tools and has a lot of possibilities to interact with the numerical simulation environments.
We can distinguish three major groups of coupling:
Import model from a third tool into Simcenter Amesim: this functionality makes it possible for a user to import in his Simcenter Amesim model some specific parts coming from another tool.
Export model from Simcenter Amesim to a third-party or in-house tool: in a lot of software used in the numerical simulation field, it can be interesting to dispose of a model developed under Simcenter Amesim.
Co-simulation: the goal here, is to address more generally the computation distribution on more than one machine by allowing bi-directional interactions between Simcenter Amesim and a third-party or in-house tool which can be of course Simcenter Amesim itself.
The Generic Co-simulation corresponds to this last case, when two different tools co-simulate together.
Table Table 1 shows the characteristics of the coupling supported by the Generic Co-simulation.
