Visualization cameras
Cameras define the model viewpoints used during animation playback. This is useful for visualizing the behavior of an object.
They provide model viewpoints used during animation playback. You can create two types of camera: static or dynamic in relation to the local coordinate systems.
Custom camera
The moving viewpoint of a custom camera enables you to track the motion of a system. You can use a custom camera to keep a moving object view during animation playback.
A custom camera can be static or dynamic. In both cases, you cannot use the Pan, Rotate, or Zoom commands by default as they change the position and orientation of the camera in the 3D environment.
A custom camera can be inside or outside the perimeter of a system or subsystem. Position a camera as a child of an object in the tree structure for a viewpoint internal to the model.
For a dynamic camera, it is recommended to use a perspective projection; apparent 3D object sizes vary noticeably with object distance to the camera, creating a more realistic 3-D effect.
Two main modes are available when defining a dynamic camera:
Moving camera: the position and orientation of the camera's frame are defined along the simulation time so that the camera follows a trajectory during animation playback.
Tracking camera: the position and the roll angle of the camera's frame are defined along the simulation time so that the camera follows a trajectory during animation playback. In addition, the position of the object to track is also set so that the camera always has the focus on it .
View control
Activate the Mouse control option to navigate within the camera view using the rotate, pan, zoom actions. This option is useful to refine the camera view point as it changes the position and orientation of the camera's frame.
Selective visualization
The Viewport display group allows you to activate or deactivate the display of specific objects in the camera view.
- Object frames allows you to manage the display of the object frames per camera views even if they are set to visible in the scene view. Cameras allows you to manage the display of the cameras even if they are set to visible in the scene view. Screen display allows you to manage the display of the screen objects (2D texts and color scale) per camera view.
