Reuse data selection pattern

To perform the same import operation on other files, use the template feature of the Data Import. If you import a file one time and save a selection template from the Data Import, you can use this template to make it easier to repeat the selection operations. The Data Import generates a template file that you can call and execute on newly-loaded data to automatically create the range selection. You can execute a template on multiple files at once. You can execute a template on one file that is loaded in the Data Import facility when you use File > Open, or you can directly use the Batch template without opening the file in the main interface of Data Import.

On the Template tab; you can create, edit and save templates. The Expression section allows you to define the selection patterns that are applied when you execute a template. The section interface is adapted according to the selected table type.

  • Template tab for 1D/XY table

  • Template tab for 2D table

  • Template tab for M1D table with detection option

  • Template tab for M1D table with selection option

On the File tab, in the File section, you can access to the list of templates to execute them. You can also manage this list.

Note

The Column split options and the history of the table operations are also stored within the template. For Excel files, the name of the sheet from which data is selected is also stored in the template.

All table edit actions which change the structure of the files (such as insert row) are not part of the template (although they appear in the contextual menu).
