Adding text to the sketch

Annotation tools Adding text

Procedure

  1. Select Insert > Text or click on the Insert text button in the Sketch toolbar.

The pointer becomes a T.

  1. Click in the sketch area, where you want to add the text.

A text frame appears in which you can type your text.

  1. Once you have completed your text, click elsewhere in the window to confirm your text entry.

Note Pressing the Enter key adds another line to your text. If you want to move the text you have entered, double-click the text. The pointer becomes the text, and you can move it to a new position.

Results

You can click on a text object to edit its contents. When you do this, a border appears, and you can click directly in the text to edit it:

You can also use the F2 key to edit text.

Once a text object has been placed on the sketch, you can move your mouse cursor over it to pick it up and then move it around the sketch. When you do this, the mouse cursor changes to indicate that the object can be moved:

Alternatively, you can double-click the text object to pick it up. In this case, the mouse cursor disappears and is replaced by the text itself.

Note

You can align text with components and other text blocks. See Aligning components, shapes, images and text
