Import raw data and filter it
As opposed to the previous example, here the imported raw data are filtered in the Table Editor before being used in Simcenter Amesim. This corresponds to the process described in figure Figure 2.
Procedure
Open the Data Import, click the Open button and look for your file. Here the file is VehicleSpeed.txt.
Select the first two columns as data range.

- Click the Save & Edit button and save your raw data as a file (test.data in this example).
It is now transferred to the Table Editor, as shown in the figure below. In the Figure 46 figure, we can see that these measurements contain some noise. We will reduce this noise by applying a filter to it in the Table Editor. Figure 45: Raw data loaded in the Table Editor

- Select the Butterworth filter from the Tools menu as shown in the figure below. Note that this filter is actually a zero-phase Butterworth filter (see the Glossary for help). The Butterworth filter window opens.

As shown below, the signal is sampled at 20 Hz. Select 2 Hz as the cut-off frequency to filter the noise. Figure 48: Butterworth filter window
You can preview the effects of the filter on the current view by clicking the Preview button, see the following figure: Figure 49: Preview of the Butterworth filter
- Click the OK button (see the Figure 48 figure) and save your table.
Results
Your table is ready to be used by a submodel. It is "smoother" now as it contains filtered data instead of (but based on) your raw measurements.
