The Configure menu > Unit management
Hierarchy
Unit management can be applied at three levels:
If you configure units at Local level (in an individual component), they override any System or Application-level configurations. If you configure units at System level (for the active system), they override any Application-level configurations. To give an example, consider the following schema:
Here we have three configurations:
At Application level, meters are configured to be displayed in inches.
At System level, meters are configured to be displayed in centimeters.
At Local level, meters are configured to be displayed in inches.
In this case, the local configuration (for individual components - inches) overrides any System or Application-level configurations and meters will be displayed in inches. For all other components in the active system that are not locally-configured, meters will be displayed in centimeters.
Let’s consider another configuration:
Here, only two levels have unit configurations:
At Application level, meters are configured to be displayed in inches.
At System level, meters are configured to be displayed in centimeters.
In this case, the System-level configuration overrides the Application-level configuration, and meters will be displayed in centimeters throughout the active system. In any new systems created, meters will be displayed in inches, unless you create or apply any specific unit configurations.
