Introduction

Generic Co-simulation contains two main features corresponding to different ways of performing co-simulations:

  • A library referred to as "libcosim"

  • An interface referred to as "usercosim"

The "libcosim" is a set of three component submodels ready for use with the existing Simcenter Amesim components. They belong to the category entitled "Generic Cosimulation" in the Library Tree:

The "usercosim" allows the creation and configuration of specific interface blocks that can be put on a Simcenter Amesim sketch to perform Hybrid Co-simulation (see Generalities for details). The "usercosim" is accessed via the Interfaces menu, see figure Figure 2:

In both cases, the goal is to cope efficiently with physical domains involving different approaches that otherwise would be difficult or even impossible to handle within a single Simcenter Amesim environment. Generally speaking, co-simulation can be used to enable interaction between heterogeneous numerical approaches associated with models based on different spatial or temporal scales, representing various physical domains such as Thermal, Fluid Dynamics or Multibody Systems.
