Preparing a Simcenter Amesim model for export to Adams

In this section, you will see how to export a Simcenter Amesim system into Adams.

Procedure

1. In Sketch mode, construct your Simcenter Amesim system with non-connected ports corresponding to Adams inputs and outputs.

2. Select Interfaces > Create interface block, as shown in the screen capture below:

It opens a dialog box window named Interface Icon Creation.

3. Select there a Type of interface. It should be Adams (model exchange) or Adams (co-simulation) depending whether you want to run discrete coupling or continuous export.

output variables Set the number of input variables to Adams and output variables from Adams and give them a name.

In the antenna case it should be one input and two outputs and the created icon looks like this:

5. Interface status You can change the interface status without having to re-do the export. Go to Interfaces > Interface status.

6. Switch from Adams (model exchange) to Adams (co-simulation).

7. Write files for simulation Switch to Simulation mode to generate all necessary files or by using File > Write files for simulation.

After the compilation of the system Simcenter Amesim creates the library.

Warning

The model cannot have implicit variables otherwise the interface does not work. During the compilation process, the following information is presented:

You are now ready to work under Adams and import the Simcenter Amesim system; this is the subject of section Importing the model in Adams.

Note

In most cases, models containing interface blocks cannot be run as they are. However, it can be useful to perform some basic checks such as open-loop simulations to see if the configuration of your model is correct; for example to check whether it can locate all its resources (typically tables) and that it initializes correctly. See section Open-loop simulations for basic model checks for more detail on this topic.
