Animated bar chart for power/energy contributions

In addition to the standard 2D plot, Simcenter Amesim allows you to plot energetic variables in bar charts. To open this interface, you have to select the power or energy variables you requirand to click on the Plot button of the Power, Energy, Activity window.

In order to distinguish the resistive, capacitive, inertial and resistive-source powers/energies, different colors are used.

  • Red is used to represent resistive powers/energies,

  • Blue is used to represent inertial powers/energies,

  • Yellow is used to represent the capacitive powers/energies,

  • White with Red lines is used for resistive sources powers/energies.

This color convention facilitates bar chart interpretation: you can clearly see which are the stored or the lost quantities and can perform comparisons between the contributions of selected components over time.

This Bar Graphs feature complements the 2D plot since the bar chart can be animated. You can play, rewind or stop the animation through the dedicated buttons. You can also tune the animation speed.

Note

Sources S elements are not considered in the Bar Graphs view, either when the sources are power generations from explicit source components (like a force source, a flow source), or when they are implicitly known sources (like gravity, centrifugal effects,).
