The aim of CAD Import
CAD Import, Getting started
This section introduces you to CAD Import and provides a simple example to help you get started with the basic operations of the application.
CAD Import is designed to provide an easy-to-use CAD viewer environment to import common CAD formats, visualize them and analyze geometry in a way that helps Simcenter Amesim users modeling their own systems.
CAD Import is a simplified tool to view CAD assembly, body and drawing data, accurately measure geometry and browse assemblies and model structures. It includes a simplified layout containing a reduced set of menu items and icons. It is an ideal tool for simulation system departments that require access to view assembly, body or drawing data, but with limited CAD software skills.
CAD Import provides also powerful tools to generate 1D Simcenter Amesim models from 3D CAD geometries. Once 3D CAD models are imported it can be used to assign primitive components to CAD bodies and then retrieve automatically parameters of interest like lengths, diameters, area, volumes, etc. At the end it is able to convert them into Simcenter Amesim equivalent components such as pipes, orifices and more.
