This section explains how to remove Simcenter Amesim objects from a sketch.

Removing objects

Objects may be removed from a Simcenter Amesim system by deleting them or cutting them. Cut Cut operations keep a copy of the objects that are removed. Delete Delete operations do not.

Both operations must be done with the sketch in the unlocked state. First select one or more Simcenter Amesim components or lines that are to be removed.

To delete do one of the following:

• Press the Del or the backspace Backspace key.

• Right-click on one of the component objects to produce the component menu and select Delete.

• Select Delete from the Edit menu,

To cut, do one of the following:

• Right-click on one of the component objects to produce the component menu and select Cut.

• Select Cut in the Edit menu.

• Press Ctrl X.

If a component was one of the selected objects and a connected line was not, then the line remains and is known as a Loose lines loose line. Normally you would delete or reconnect loose lines.

Note

Remember that you can press the Ctrl key to pick up the end of a loose line to connect it to a component port.

To delete one or more loose lines, you can either:

1. Select the loose lines and delete them like any other Simcenter Amesim object, or

2. Select Delete loose lines in the Edit menu.

To reconnect a loose line, you can either:

1. Offer up a compatible component (note the green squares) and allow it to "snap" to the line.

2. Near the end of the loose line hold down the Ctrl key and left-click.

Simcenter Amesim then behaves as if the line was in process of being drawn. If possible any submodel for the line and its parameters will be retained.
