XY curve

Curve type 2D curve

This is the simplest format that allows you to create a 2D line plot of data on the Y-axis against the corresponding values on the X-axis in Simcenter Amesim.

It contains two items; an X item and a Y item.

By default the X item is the time so that when you drag and drop an item onto the sketch, the selected item is plotted against the simulation time. It is possible to change the item of the X-axis if needed.

XY curve

The XY curve(s) option from the Tools menu allows you to convert 2D curves into new 2D curves using the Y item of the original 2D curve as the new X item of the other 2D curves. This requires that the plot contains at least two 2D curves.

X-axis settings

You can set another variable as the default X item by setting a new X-axis variable. In Simulation mode, select Tools > Advanced > Plot circuit settings. This opens the Plot circuit settings dialog box where you can select a variable of your model as the default X-axis.

Two combo boxes allow you to select the variable from drop-down lists. The first one lists all components on the current sketch (submodel and instance number), and the second one lists the variable titles of the selected component.

Note

These settings are contextual to the active system only.

This is a convenient method for small systems. For larger systems, select the component that contains the required variable, pick the variable from the list in the contextual variable window and drag and drop it onto either of the fields.

When you click OK to confirm, all plots are updated, setting the selected variable as the new X-axis item. Nevertheless this operation can fail in the following two cases:

• The variable has not been saved. Note If the current save status for the selected variable is false, you get a warning message.

• The variable has been removed. Note If you remove the submodel that contains the selected variable from your model, the X-Axis setting selection is reset to time.
