Analyze results
This procedure must be done through the Result analysis tab that provides a dedicated view. This tab allows you to display and animate 3D objects according to simulation results. 3D scenes are only displayed if simulation results are available.
The main goal of this tab is to analyze the simulation results of your model in a 3D environment. All object properties that have associations are read-only.
The animation player
The Animation player section of the ribbon bar provides the playback controls which allow you to play, pause, rewind, go forward, and go to the start and end of the animation.
The Timeline shows the projection of time while the animation takes place. It provides some tools which allow you to easily interact with the animation. The options of the Timeline will give you a precise way of playing the animation. It may be very useful to see some details at a particular moment of the animation. The Slider allows you to go backwards or forwards in the animation.
To ensure a visually smooth and informative animation of your simulation, it is crucial to understand the relationship between the frame rate and the print interval defined in your simulation run parameters.
The frame rate determines the smoothness of your animation. A higher frame rate generally results in a more fluid visual experience.
The print Interval dictates how frequently your simulation data is recorded and made available for visualization.
The frame rate of your animation is directly tied to the print interval. If your chosen print interval is too large , the animation may appear jerky or choppy due to significant gaps between recorded data points.
The Interpolate frames option is available to enhance animation smoothness, particularly when a high print interval is necessary or desired.
When activated, this feature generates intermediate frames between your recorded data points. This process effectively fills in the gaps, resulting in a significantly smoother animation and preventing abrupt visual transitions. It is especially beneficial for improving the visual flow of animations where the print interval is set to a higher value.
Caution
While Interpolate frames greatly improves visual fluidity, it is essential to note that these interpolated frames are estimated. They are mathematically generated points between your actual simulation data. Therefore, they may not always perfectly represent the precise system behavior at every single moment.
Use this option for enhanced visual presentation. However, for detailed analysis requiring exact system states, always refer to the actual, recorded simulation data points.
The Speed factor allows you to control how quickly or slowly the content is played. You can then increase or decrease the speed as necessary for a better visualization. The drop-down list is editable so you can set a custom speed factor. The speed ratio must also be considered in relation to the frame rate. A higher speed ratio accelerates animation playback, which can make any existing jerkiness (resulting from a low frame rate or a high print interval) significantly more noticeable. Therefore, when increasing the speed ratio, ensuring an adequate frame rate (or utilizing frame interpolation) becomes even more critical to preserve visual smoothness.
You can activate the loop mode to repeat the animation without needing to restart it manually.
Note
Animation is synchronized with the other tools of the same model.

Result set selection
When your model comprises studies (batch, DOE, experiment) for which time series are available, you can play the animation for one of the available result sets.
All available result sets are listed in the drop-down list of the Simulation section of the ribbon bar.
Update and automatic update
If you are running a long simulation you may want to start your animation even if the simulation is not complete. In this case, you can manually update the animation during the simulation (using the Update menu item) or you can ask Simcenter Amesim to do it for you through the Automatic update option.
Note
You can enable automatic update when performing co-simulation when Simcenter Amesim is operating as the slave.
