Load data

This action allows you to load (or import) data from different kinds of files, and to display them as curves in a graph. A drop-down list allows you to choose from among the types of files that are supported.

• Table Editor data files: these are the files that use the table formats of Simcenter Amesim. The supported formats are 1D, 2D, XYs, and M1D tables. These data can be added to a graph as curves to be superimposed on simulation results. Depending on the format of the table selected, you have access to the curve displays which are in accordance with the table format. Note For 1D and XYs tables, if the X column has a time-related unit - seconds, hours, days … then the features of the plot that are associated with time series are usable. That is to say: replay cursor, conversion to Y animated, conversion of time unit.

• Plot data files: this is a Plot-specific format that can only be loaded in a plot window. The data can be exported to this file format through the options when saving data.

• Results files (.results): these are the files that are generated during simulation and contain all saved variables of the system. When a batch study is performed, there are as many result files as batch numbers.

• Experiment files (*.ameexp, *.exp): these files are created when you export an experiment from the Experiment view window.

You can also drag and drop a data file directly onto a plot window to load it:

When you load a results file or an exported experiment file, a variable selection dialog box opens:

This dialog box allows you to select the variables to plot in the list. You can filter through the list to quickly locate the variables you require.

You can limit the search to:

• the name of the submodel with which the variable is associated (SUBMODEL)

• the name of the variable (NAME)

• the unit of the variable (Unit)

Note

Filters are not case-sensitive. Entering FoRce returns the same result as entering force.

Graph selection

If your plot contains several graphs, you must first indicate where you want to load your data, for example on a new row, or in the existing graph. See figure below.
