Air/gas content parameter

In real engineering systems, the hydraulic fluid always contains some gas which is normally air. This can be dissolved or in the form of bubbles. The Simcenter Amesim™ software definition of the “air/gas content” is as follows:

Suppose a sample of hydraulic fluid is taken. Separate the air including the dissolved air from the liquid and store both at atmospheric pressure and 273.15 K (T0).

If the volumes of the liquid and air/gas are Vliq(Patm,T0) and Vair/gas(Patm,T0) respectively, the “air/gas content” is given by the following equation:

As the “air/gas content” is a volumetric value, it must be defined at reference conditions. In Simcenter Amesim, the reference conditions for “air/gas content” are always atmospheric pressure (1.013.105 [PaA] or 0 [bar]) and 273 K.
