Reuse data selection pattern
Execute and manage templates
When you save a template on your drive, it is automatically added to the list of the templates available in the Data Import. This list is displayed through the drop-down menu of the Apply template button and in the dedicated Manage templates window. Only the name of the file is shown in the list.

Note
If the list of templates is empty, the Apply template button is disabled.
Executing a template
You can only execute a template if data from a file is loaded. On the File tab, in the File section, click the Apply templates button and select a template from the list.
When a template is executed, several actions are performed based on the content of the template:
On the Template tab, the expression fields are filled according to the expressions stored in the template file. Note If the type of table is M1D, the correct option in between Detection and Selection is made. For Detection, the detection parameters are also set.
On the Selection tab, the type of table is selected; row numbers (if any) for titles, units, and comments are set; and the results of expressions evaluation are filled in the selection fields.
On the spreadsheet, the cells are colored according to the data ranges in the selection.
If no errors are detected, you can check the selection using the plot preview and then create the table. Please refer to the Table plot preview and Saving the data sections for more information.
Note
If the selection is not correct, you can review how the expressions are interpreted. Select the Template tab to access the history of the expressions evaluation. Please refer to Detect errors at edit-time for more information on the Template log tab.
Managing templates
Data Import manage templates
The Manage templates window is used to manage any existing templates. If there are no templates, the window is empty. Any templates listed in this window are accessible through the Apply template button drop-down menu.
You can use the Up and Down buttons to organize this list, the order is reflected in the drop-down menu of the Apply template.
The Manage templates window contains the following buttons:
Up: move the selected template up in the list.
Down: move the selected template down in the list.
Import: add an existing template file to the list. The feature is useful for sharing templates.
Delete: Delete the selected template from the list.
Tip
If you hover the pointer over a template name, a tooltip appears showing the full path to the file location.
