Create material database

CAD Import, Material database

You can create a database of materials with predefined properties in CAD Import. This database is contextual to a project and allows to assign a specific material to a CAD object. The available material properties are the following:

  • Density in kg.m3

  • Young's modulus in GPa

  • Poisson's ratio

  • Shear modulus in GPa

  • Absolute roughness in mm

Material database

To create a new material:

Procedure

  1. Select the Scene in the object tree to display the properties of the scene in the Object inspector.

  2. In the Object inspector select the line material database and double-click in the value field. The button appears and allows you to pop-up the dialog window related to the material database management.

Material selection

To assign a material to a CAD body:

Procedure

  1. Select the CAD body in the Object tree or pick it in the Scene area.

You can select multiple bodies to assign a common material at once.
