Simcenter Amesim installation instructions
Installing Simcenter Amesim Interactively
Simcenter Amesim uses the Siemens Install Program (SIP), an easy-to-use wizard interface for installing Siemens software.
During the installation, a sequence of windows is displayed. The default options were selected to suit most installations. To navigate forwards or backwards in this sequence of windows, press respectively the Next or Back buttons.
It is possible to install Simcenter Amesim in silent mode using scripts. For more details, refer to Installing Simcenter Amesim Using a Batch Script.
To install Simcenter Amesim interactively:
Unzip the archive and copy its content to a folder of your choice.
Launch the executable file called setup64.exe for Windows, or install.aol for Linux.Note On Linux, give executable rights to the
install.aolfile through the commandchmod +x install.aolNote Running the Simcenter Amesim installer withroot/sudoprivileges may fail on certain Linux distributions that restrict graphical applications with elevated permissions. If this occurs, configure your system to allow GUI applications with root privileges, or install as a standard user with appropriate directory permissions. A User Account Control dialog opens, asking if you want to allow the app to make changes to your device. Click Yes.The Siemens installer opens.Select Install > Install Products.
In the Source and Target window, the Select a source field should point to the uncompressed install archive from which to run the installer. If it is not, do one of the following:
Type the path to the location of the source you want to install. If your source is on a network, enter the full pathname.
Select from the drop-down list of previously-used source locations.
Click Search to use the source browser to search for a source location.
In the Select a target location field, set the path to the location where you want to install Simcenter Amesim. If the directory does not yet exist, the SIP creates the directory before installing the software.
Click Next.
In the Platform Selection window, select your operating system (Windows or Linux), and click Next.
In the Product Selection window, select one or more products to install.
The window provides information about each product available for installation, the amount of available disk space at the target, and the amount of disk space the product requires. Note Some products may be dependent on one or more products and are check-marked accordingly.
Click Next.
In the License Agreement window, you can view the End-User License Agreement (EULA). Carefully read the agreement and click Agree to accept it before installing Siemens software.
If you click Disagree, the software will not be installed.
In the Confirm Selections window, review and confirm the installation target location and the release(s) and product(s) you want to install. If the SIP detects that you are installing a product that already exists at the target, a Repair existing installation check box appears at the bottom of the window. Selecting the check box forces SIP to overwrite ALL existing files with the version in the source, thereby repairing any modified or corrupt files at the target.
Click Install.
The Installing Products window indicates the progress of the installation. The status bar shows the percentage of completion.
If you install both Simcenter Amesim and Simcenter Amesim Run, a dialog prompts you to choose the default application for reading .ame files. Make your selection and click OK.
When the SIP shows
