The CAD Import model generation environment in detail

Parameter check

Before generating the sketch, you should be sure that the parameters of the primitives and the connections are all set and synchronized with the CAD bodies. Checks are performed all along the process to inform the user about the status of the associations. These tests allow you to know consistencies and take actions if needed.

  • Missing parameters

Once a primitive is associated to a CAD body; the domain and the name of the primitive is written in the object tree. If the text is red, that means some parameters are not defined. Figure 158: red Primitive information

So you have to open the Primitive Association window and check what parameters are not set.

  • Inconsistent parameters

It is allowed to do changes on a CAD body that has a primitive associated to. In the case of the CAD body properties change (position, orientation, material properties) or the reference frame is modified, the parameters of the primitive that is associated to are not synchronized with the new set-up. Then the text turns into orange to warn the user. Figure 159: orange Primitive information

So you have to update the parameter values of the primitive. You can right-click on the primitive line in the Object tree and select Update primitive parameters. Figure 160: Update primitive parameters

If many primitives have inconsistent parameters select Evaluate out-of-date parameters from the 1D modeling menu. Figure 161: Evaluate out-of-date parameters

Note

It is possible to force the re-computation of all the parameters of the primitives and the connections. It is useful when you upgrade your CAD Import project to a new revision.
