Enable window docking

Enable window docking

Preferences Enable window docking

Select this checkbox to enable window docking mode. This mode allows you to move the various panes around your workspace and to dock them elsewhere. For example, with this mode enabled you can move the Parameters pane and position it in your workspace. When it is not selected, you can still double click a pane to "float" it above your workspace, but you cannot dock it.

Note

Enable window docking mode is activated by default.

Auto adjust column width to content length

Auto adjust column width to content length

Select this checkbox if you want Simcenter Amesim to automatically adjust the width of columns so that column titles are not truncated.

Auto update pathlist

Select this checkbox if you want Simcenter Amesim to automatically update the path list after any changes. See Automatically updating the path list for more information.

Sign convention info on U-turn connections for mechanical components

De-select this checkbox if you want to turn off the warning message about connecting two Mechanical components with a U-turn line. See Why can I not connect two components? for more information.

Show security warnings

De-select this checkbox if you want to turn off the warning message displayed when you import apps from external sources.

This is set to 4 by default, the maximum possible number is 20.

Starter directory

Preferences starter directory

Starter directory

Set the Starter parent directory for the application. See Opening an existing system or starter. In this parent directory, Simcenter Amesim will automatically create a starters sub-directory in which starters will actually be stored.

Display language

Use the drop-down list to select the display language (English or Chinese).

Note

If you change the display language, you must restart the application for the modification to be applied.

Sketch

  • Automatic lock sketch: Automatic lock sketch Preferences automatic lock sketch Select this checkbox to ensure the sketch is locked when Sketch mode is entered.

  • Display jumps at line crossing points Display jumps at line crossing points : Use this checkbox to toggle the display of line jumps when two lines intersect on the sketch.

  • Show supercomponent synchronization status: Show supercomponent synchronization status Use this checkbox to toggle the display of supercomponent synchronization icons off or on.

Update assistant tools

  • Always launch Model update assistant: If you select this option, the Model update assistant tool is launched every time you open a model and switch to Simulation mode. If not selected, the Model update assistant is only launched when models last saved in a previous version are detected.

  • Automatically suggest Library update assistant: If you select this option, the Library update assistant tool is launched when supercomponents saved in a previous version are present in the Category path list.

Consult the Update Assistant Tools manual

Application font

This button gives access to font personalization.

If you make any changes, they will be applied to Simcenter Amesim. On some machines when Simcenter Amesim is installed, the default font is unsuitable. Use this facility to correct this problem.

If you have reorganized the layout of your interface (moved toolbars and dock windows to new positions) you can click this button to restore the default Simcenter Amesim layout.

Parameters

  • Copy parameters option

Preferences copy parameters option

Copy parameters option: This option allows you to select the method by which parameters are copied (this can be when the set title or the original title or both titles match).

  • Path handling

Preferences path handling

Path handling: Three options are possible.

For the last two options the following pre-requisites must be respected:

The data file name must start with the circuit name followed by _.filename.

The data file must be stored in the same location as the circuit.

The three options are as follows:

Use standard behavior: If you use this option, the name of the file selected will not be modified. This option also ensures that relative paths are used when possible. When relative paths cannot be used, absolute paths will be used.

Replace with the generic name: This option replaces the name of the file selected with the generic name when possible -${circuit_name}

Replace with the full generic name: This option replaces the name of the file selected with the full generic name when possible -${full_circuit_name}

For example: You create a circuit called myModel.ame in which a component refers to a data file named MyModel_.cam.data, which is located in the same directory as the circuit. Here are the results you get according to the option selected: Figure 322: Use standard behavior

Figure 323: Replace with the generic name

Figure 324: Replace with the full generic name

If you then save the circuit as myNewModel.ame. the simulation runs will fail for the new circuit if the first option is selected, as the application will not be able to find the file myNewModel_.cam.data. If the other two options are used, the simulation will succeed as the file name is updated with the new circuit name. For more information on generic names, see Generic data filenames. Warning Known limitation: for global parameters, standard behavior is always used in the Global Parameters window, even if you select one of the other two options.
