Premier submodel

The Premier submodel option is enabled when you switch to Submodel mode.

Select Configure > Premier submodel, or use the Premier submodel button from the Submodel contextual toolbar, to automatically set the simplest submodel for each component or line that has no associated submodel.

You must associate all components and lines on the sketch with a submodel in order to have access to the Parameter mode.

The submodels selected are the first that appear at the top of the list of suitable submodels when the process is performed manually (see the Selecting submodels for components section). For a given component or line, standard Simcenter Amesim submodels are actually arranged in an order so that the simplest one appears at the top and the most complex at the bottom. This means that the first submodel in the list is automatically selected and assigned when the Premier submodel button is clicked. This process is applied to all components and lines which do not have submodels yet.

This facility is very useful in the early stages of development of a model when it is appropriate to use the simplest possible submodels. As the model is developed, more complex submodels can be selected manually if you feel this is necessary.

If you try to switch to Parameter mode without setting submodels for all components that need them, you will get the following message:

• If you click Yes, Premier Submodel is automatically applied to all components that require a submodel, and you enter Parameter mode directly.

• If you click No, you remain in Submodel mode, and you can set submodels for the components or lines that require them by hand.
