Introduction

The Simcenter Amesim Adams interface links a Simcenter Amesim model with an Adams multibody model of a mechanical structure. By coupling motion simulation (Adams) with system simulation (Amesim), this interface improves the accuracy of full-system simulation.

It is most useful when hydraulic or pneumatic fluid power systems, or other Simcenter Amesim systems, interact with complex mechanical structures.

The interface is designed so most Simcenter Amesim facilities remain usable while the model runs inside Adams: parameters can be changed within Simcenter Amesim in the normal way, and results can be monitored via plots just as with a regular run.

Typical usage has Simcenter Amesim and Adams running simultaneously so both packages' full facilities are available. The general workflow is:

  1. Construct the Simcenter Amesim model with the Adams interface component(s) representing the coupling boundary.
  2. Run the coupled co-simulation with Adams driving the multibody/mechanical dynamics and Amesim driving the fluid/system-level dynamics, exchanging states at each co-simulation step.
